Memory services AT CNY TMS

Our memory program seeks to assist individuals who have concerns about their memory and who are hoping to improve cognitive functioning or prevent future decline. Good candidates for this program include individuals who have suffered concussions or traumatic brain injuries, strokes, have been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment or the early stages of Alzheimers dementia, or individuals who have not been formally diagnosed by a medical professional but have concerns about their memory or ability to stay on task.

Memory Services

Dr KHATUNA Stepkovitch

An integral component to this program begins with a comprehensive memory consultation by our memory specialist, Khatuna Stepkovitch, MD, a board-certified geriatrician with extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders. Program participants will be managed directly and followed by Dr. Khatuna as they progress through treatment.

Excitingly, a growing body of research supports the use of TMS to improve and potentially protect memory. TMS utilizes electromagnetic energy to stimulate neurons in the brain to fire thousands of times during a single treatment. Done in a series over several weeks, multiple studies have shown impressive memory gains in the study participants. While not yet FDA approved, TMS is a very safe treatment option for individuals looking to protect their brains as much as possible from memory deterioration or to attempt to improve memory when there has been the beginning stages of some memory impairment. The protocols we offer follow the treatment parameters of several studies on using TMS for mild cognitive impairment and dementia. Having performed memory treatments already on a number of our patients, the impressive improvements we have witnessed ourselves has led us to formally develop this program with confidence.
